THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT
OF
JOHN T. HASTINGS



In the name of God Amen .. I JOHN HASTINGS of the State of Tennessee and County of Franklin being sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory. (Thanks be to God for his mercies) and knowing that it is appointd to men to die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in the following manner.

And principally and first of all I give and re ?? myself into the hands of Almighty God who gave it and my Body to the Earth to be buried in a decent and Christian burial nothing doubting but that at the ??? resurection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and touching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me and I give and bequeath of the same in the following manner.

First I give and bequeath to my beloved wife NANCY HASTINGS all the land belonging to me and on which I live for her only use and benefit during the term of her natural life but at her decease that the same to equally division between my beloved daughters POLLY THOMAS and PEGGY AULT to my three children ROBERT HASTINGS; ESTHER RIPPY; MARTHA CLARK I give and bequeath the summ of five shillings each and no more after my funeral expenses are paid and all just debts against me discharges my will and desire is that the balance of my personal estate remain in the possession of my beloved wife NANCY HASTINGS for her support until her decease and to be equally divided between my beloved sons JOHN H. HASTINGS; JOSEPH HASTINGS all former wills and bequeaths made by me are hereby revoked and disannulled and this to be my Last Will and Testament.

In witness whereof I have herewit set my hand and seal this First day of February in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Thirty.

I also appoint JOHN H. HASTINGS and JOSEPH HASTINGS my sons to be the executors of my Last Will and Testament.

State of Tennessee County Court February Term 1830 Franklin County where the foregoing Last Will and Testament of JOHN HASTINGS deceased was duly proven in ??? Court by oaths of Henry Ault, Thomas Thomas subscribing witnesses and ordained to be recorded.

Given unto my hand in office this 23rd day of February 1830.
